As you would expect, yardage will be cut-to-order as a single piece. For example, order 2 yards, and you will receive a single piece 2 yards long. Etc. Sturdy and affordable 100% hemp fabric for all your projects. This 6 ounce hemp plain-weave canvas is strong but light-weight, but has a thicker and sturdier feel than you might expect for 6 oz. canvas. For reference it feels almost as thick as the denim of a pair of jeans, but not quite. Maybe more like a pair of painters pants or Dickies. This fabric is often sold in marketplaces as "8 ounce" hemp canvas (that's actually how we order it from the weaver) — and unless you actually weigh it, you would believe it. But we choose to sell it based on actual ounces per square yard as accurately as possible. This fabric is NOT pre-shrunk. You will need to wash, dry, and press before cutting any patterns, as there is a decent amount of shrinkage the first time it is washed and dried. After that it is very stable with no additional shrinkage evident in our testing and experience. You will loose about 7% of your cut fabric length to shrinkage — but that also means your thickness increases and the weave becomes tighter.
